I realise that sometimes I get too stuck in the past and this is reflected in my love of all things vintage.
In a world full of X-men trilogies, Iron Man trilogies and countless other superhero movies, I am always on the lookout for interesting indie movies...step in French movies. Granted, it helps if you understand the language but subtitles are not that bad when the movie is so good.
I discovered Populaire in early 2013 and have watched it countless times. This rather dry romantic comedy is set in the 1950s and is based around a typewriting competition, yep that's right typewriting. To make something that can be quite mundane seem so exciting and romantic is genius, plus Romain Duris is so lush (even when so moody).
